I studied at Bournemouth Institute of Art and Design where I completed a Foundation Course and as part of this course, developed an interest in printmaking. I have attended many courses and workshops back at the Institute to develop my skills in various aspects of printmaking. I also now have my own etching press at home so I can spend more time on this. After I obtained my Diploma I spent two years studying painting and completed an NCFE course, also run by Bournemouth Institute. I now use both techniques in my work and employ a variety of styles especially in my printmaking. My main interests are collographs and monoprints – using as many different ways of working as I can think of and the possibilities are endless! I also paint and work mostly in acrylic or gouache. |

My influences are Turner, John Piper, Carl Jackson, the impressionists and often more abstract work. I am continually exploring ways of working and a great joy is to visit exhibitions, art galleries and see how other artists are using materials. I am a member of the prestigious Bournemouth Arts Club which has a long history of promoting some of the most interesting and exciting local artists. I exhibit with them regularly. |
